Details
This oil painting of sunflowers is by the American artist Charles Redmond Benolt. He was an active artist in Florida during the 20th century who frequently signed his work as “Redmond”.
He is well-known for his 3D Textured Technique using a heavy impasto technique, where paint is layered thickly to give flower petals and other elements a raised, three dimensional effect.
While he also painted marine scenes with tropical fish and coral reefs, his floral still life’s, particularly sunflowers, are among his most recognizable works.
This canvas oil is unframed and measures about 10” wide by 8.5” tall. It is signed Redmond in the lower right corner. The 3D texture is amazing and makes the sunflowers look real. Due to its age and being previously framed, you will see fine scratches, especially around the canvas edge.
It’s a beautiful, vintage, collectible painting and is ready to frame and display in your home or office.
