Details
These antique bowls were made in the 1920s and 30s for the Moroccan market. I they were made by a famous French ceramics company, a fusion between two historic factories, Sarreguemines and Digoin. This company was known for its high-quality earthenware, majolica (fruits and animals) and tiles.
The Sarreguemines factory started in 1784, while a separate Digoin factory began in 1875. Production shifted to tiles before the company faced liquidation in 2007, but their pieces remain highly sought-after antiques, preserving their artistic heritage.
These bowls were probably displayed on a wall, possibly in a Moroccan home, as they have a hole drilled in each bowl to support a wire piece for hanging. Each has a French maker’s mark on the back side.
Because they were used in homes and are 90 to 100 years old, please expect blemishes to include chips, flea bites, color fading and brown pitted marks.
If imperfections are not your thing, please do not purchase these aged bowls.
Please see photos for more details. These bowls measure about 9” in diameter and have a red design on a white background. There are four different French patterns in this set.
They are authentic, treasured French collectibles and are hard to find in the States.
They are priced way below value. If you find them online overseas, you will see that they are expensive.
