This is a vintage hand-painted wooden wall pocket, commonly used as a primitive folk art salt box or candle box.
It is made of solid wood with a scalloped or wavy cut rim along the front pocket. It includes a hand forged iron ring at the top for hanging.
It has hand painted flowers on the front pocket and on both sides.
It was traditionally used in homes as a salt box, match holder or small candle taper holder.
Today it can serve these same purposes or you could add florals for that cottage core feel.
It measures about 6.25”W x 10”H in size. It has its fair share of blemishes to the wood and paint from age and usage. Please see the photos as they are part of this description and will help you better determine the condition of this piece.
