This beautiful Madonna was made by the Gort China Company in the 1940s. Gort was known for making delicate, hand-painted religious and animal figurines during the 1940s.
This Madonna is marked on its base and still retains its original foil maker’s mark sticker near its bottom edge.
On the base, the 1M-Florence specifies the artistic model line. The 1 indicates this as a medium size bust. The name Florence represents the name assigned to this specific style of veiled Madonna or bust.
This bust is in nice condition with no chips. It does have stains and crazing, especially around the base. I love stains and crazing as they attest to the history and age of a piece. If you do not love crazing, please do not purchase this piece or you will be disappointed.
It measures approximately 4” wide by 6” tall.
She is a beautiful Madonna bust and will be a nice addition to any collection or as a lovely display on a dresser or tabletop.
