T Goode & Co. London Bowl With Strainer c1870-1890

$125.00

Details

This beauty of an antique bowl was commissioned through T. Goode & Co. in London, England. T. Goode is one of the world’s most famous luxury tableware emporiums and holds Royal Warrants to supply the British Royal Family.
While they did not manufacture goods themselves, they selected and commissioned elite patterns from English porcelain makers like Minton, Copeland (Spode), or Crown Staffordshire.
The backstamp is not marked “England” which means this piece predates the McKinley Tariff Act where the U.S. required imports to stamp the country of origin on the piece. This means this bowl was made during the late Victorian era, right when luxury retailers like Goode were commissioning premier, hand-painted botanical masterpieces for London’s high society. This bowl was made between 1870 and 1890.
ABOUT THIS BOWL
This is a two-piece set to include the bowl and strainer. It measures about 8.25” in diameter and 3” tall. It features botanical orchids on both pieces and gold trim along the rims and bowl handles.
This bowl is in nice antique condition. There is one small chip along the bowls rim as shown in the photos and some of the gold trim is faded away from age and usage. But the hand-painted colors are still vibrant and beautiful. It is rare to find the strainer piece as most have been lost or broken over time. So this complete set is a real treasure!
This 100+ year old treasure will be a nice addition to any collection.
