Details
This beautiful and textured nautical fish was handmade from recycled oil drums by Haitian artisans. Made with only a hammer, chisel and imagination, each piece is made from steel.
The artisan starts with a cast-off 55 gallon steel drum that has been cleaned, sanded and pounded flat. From there, the artists chalks his design onto the metal. Then begins the heavy work of cutting out the pattern with a hammer and chisel, which gives the piece detail and dimension.
Finally the artist applies a clear-coat to the piece to protect it.
This piece measures about 8” tall by 6” tall.
It has a hole on the top fin for hanging.
